The environmental job market is one of the fastest growing job pools in the country. One of the cool things about this field is that it has a wide range of skills required. You could do environmental work in communications for a non-profit or you be in a lab working on new technologies. I found this really cool site, environmental-finance.com, that combines a lot of environmental job market stuff with the latest news in the environmental industry.
The site has a job listing section holding tons of available environmental jobs. Many of the listings call for program managers and directors. But what’s really cool about the listings are many of their locations. I saw listings anywhere from D.C. to Germany to Buenos Aires. I gotta say running an environmental program in Buenos Aires really doesn’t sound half bad.
Environmental Finance also has a news section where they report environmental news pieces of the day. This stuff can be really relevant for a job seeker in the field. Nothing is better than going into an interview with a lot of knowledge regarding the job you’re applying for. Knowing a lot about your field can really add to your confidence going into any interview.
The site also has a section listing upcoming environmental conferences. Attending conferences is a really good way to network within your field and possibly find a job. Some of these conferences are actually online “webinars” which can be watched free of charge from your home.
