Heidi Coulson at oZZIe’s blog looks at whether you should think of paring down your CV the way you pare down your social media updates. In her view, recruiters often don’t have the time to read long-winded CVs or cover letters, so it’s best to think of them much like your tweets: short, succinct and to the point. On the SimplyHired.co.uk blog this week we looked at what a cover letter says about you, how to answer ‘What’s your proudest achievement?’ question in an interview and the five most common errors recruiters see on CVs.Lee Cooper blogs over at Recruiters Little Black Book that permanent position recruitment has risen at a fast rate in the past six months. He cites the latest figures from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation / KPMG Labour Market survey published Wednesday, which shows a steady number of people securing permanent employment as permanent hiring grew to 57.4 on January’s index (anything above 50 represents growth), up from 54.9 in December.Clare Whitmell at Job Market Success looks at strategic job searches, and recommends planning and doing your homework to ensure a successful job search.Ray Nolan, the Irish founder of Worky.com, blogs this week about career development through social networking. The successful Irish web-preneur (who co-founded Hostelworld.com and now Worky) says “There’s no reason why you can’t build a career network or a career place to extol your virtues and your talents. You have a right to do that, everybody has.”Finally don’t forget to sign up for Simply Hired e-mail alerts or the Job Search Made Simple newsletter if you haven’t already!
