Starbucks used to be a place to relax

Now it's an office. And it's boring.

Since Starbucks started offering free, unlimited Internet access to all customers, it has become an office for freelancers and job seekers. Nothing wrong with that, except that those (like me) who come to read the paper or chat with friends can't find a table.

I took this picture at the Palo Alto Starbucks, where all five tables are now taken by nomad workers.
