1. Experience - the person with the most experiences in relevant positions get the job
2. Level of education - People with Master's degree beat people with Bachelor's degree
3. Quality of resume - Any misspelling will get you out of the competition
4. Content of resume - If you list everything you did but lack of focus, your resume won't be read
Employers
1. Interpersonal skills - Are you able to work as a team
2. Experience - They want to train you fast and furiously
3. Education - When apply to professional jobs, you need at least a BS or BA
4. Citizenship - They don't hire foreigners, only citizens and green card holders
5. Gender - They want to make sure if you have the capability to do well. (i.e. Men: Analyst; Women: Department or small store managers)
With 10% unemployment rate, or 1 in 6 people are out of job, employers became very choosy and picky. Often times the most qualified candidates don't get hired, and there is always someone out of nowhere sneaks through hundreds of applicants and grabs the job.
